Genetics, environment and autism and their interaction

Abstract

Modern genetics has shown  editing of messenger controlling protein structure and thereby function, and recombination also of proteins as well. Direct inhibitory effects of environmental inputs such as toxic minerals  can furthermore inhibit key enzymes especially if containing SH groups as well as dietary overload of metabolites.  Phenyl-ketonuria is a good model of possible interventions made possible by this knowledge, where mental retardation is prevented by removing excess of dietary phenyl-alanine. Complete removal of the genetic  disposition is only possible by genetic engineering, However  amelioration,  sometimes even complete recovery from the symptoms , by removing toxic causes, or dietary overload, and, or activating key enzymes by cofactors is biochemically
feasible.
