Professor Gary Mesibov of Division TEACCH back in Wales by popular demand
CARDIFF, Wales: Professor Gary Mesibov will be coming to the QED centre, Treforest, South Wales from March 25-27, 2009, to deliver the three-day 'Introduction to TEACCH' seminar.
This fascinating course will be of great practical benefit to all professionals working with children with an autistic spectrum disorder, including teachers, social care workers, speech and language therapists, psychologists, learning support staff and many others. It is designed to familiarise participants with autism and the various approaches to working with people with autism and their families. Structured Teaching, Division TEACCH's main intervention approach, will be emphasised and participants will see how it has evolved in response to the unique needs of the autistic population. Aspects of applying TEACCH techniques to classroom instruction will be highlighted.
Places will be limited and we are expecting high demand, as this course is rarely available in the UK.
The cost of the course is £395, including lunch and refreshments. Teachers working in LEA-maintained schools in Wales may be eligible for funding from the General Teaching Council for Wales (GTCW) through their professional development funding programme.
