Porthcawl school will hold special assemblies to mark World Autism Awareness Day on April 2
PORTHCAWL, Wales: Every head of year at Porthcawl Comprehensive School will hold a special assembly for autism awareness on April 2 to mark World Autism Awareness Day.
Year 7 will be having The Blue Bottle Mystery read to them with a Q &A session to follow. Every other year group will be presented with facts about autism. Their SEN Dept will be showing video clips throughout the day - for example, Wish upon a Star.
The pupils have started producing posters on Understanding Autism and they will be displayed throughout the school on April 2.
And this is only the start. In September, ASD will be included in the School Development plan (and therefore, everyone’s department development plan too). Leaflets, information packs and INSET sessions will be provided for teachers in order to raise awareness and improve their understanding and expertise.
