Biography

Professor Bailey is an internationally recognised authority on the genetic and neurobiological basis of autism. In 2002, he was appointed to England's first endowed professorship (the Cheryl and Reece Scott Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford) devoted to research into the causes and cures of autism. He has been involved in twin and family studies of autism and helps to co-ordinate the International Molecular Genetics Study of Autism Consortium. Dr Bailey has also made important contributions to defining the neuropathology of autism.
